My main concern was how to condense Tolkien’s original story into 3 hours of drama? I walked into the theatre without any real expectations then and was rather pleasantly surprised. It is not a faithful representation, it never could be. But the journey of Frodo and companions is brought to life in the London show much the same as in Jackson’s films.

Going to see Lord of the Rings is a dramatic experience and you don’t even have to be a fan of the original Tolkien material. The only people who might not enjoy the spectacle are loyal Tolkien followers and it quite likely they would not step foot over the Drury Lane threshold.
