Gone With the Wind Closing Early

Darius Danesh as Rhett Butler and Jill Paice as Scarlet O\'HaraFollowing poor tickets sales and critic reviews, Trevor Nunn’s ‘Gone With the Wind‘ is scheduled to do exactly that following announcements the musical is finishing it’s run at the New London Theatre early. The West End production of Margaret Mitchell’s classic novel which opened on 3rd April 2008 was scheduled to run until the end of September 2008, but will now be closing on 15th June 2008.

The London show, which contains a star studded cast including ‘Popstars’ contestant Darius Dinesh as Rhett Butler and American beauty Jill Paice as Scarlett O’Hara is the first ever adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning love story to be staged in London’s West End.

Following previews in April the show received poor reviews from a number of acclaimed critics including The Independent, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph and the Evening Standard.  Previous plans to stage the production in New York have now been put on hold, although it is said that various worldwide parties have expressed an interest in staging the show.
