Sanjeev Bhaskhar’s opening night in Spamalot
The star of Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumar’s at no. 42 went on stage at the Palace Theatre this week in Monty Python’s Spamalot.
The tv star was taking over the role of King Arthur from Alan Dale. Apart from the usual first night nerves, Bhaskhar revealed he was very aware of the fact that sitting in the audience was form Python star Terry Jones. Bhaskhar brings along a little of himself to the role, which is of course encouraged by the kind of ridiculous humour that the Python’s advocated. He comic timing and his obvious enjoyment of the role will ensure Spamalot will continue to be a big hit. Full of great songs, fabulous choreography and hilarious historical inaccuracies, Spamalot is hugely entertaining.
Eric Idle’s comedy is scheduled to close early January after opening in September 2006.
