Simon MacCorkindale joining cast of Sound of Music

Veteran English actor, writer and director, Simon MacCorkindale will be joining the cast of The Sound of Music at the London Palladium from 25th August 2008. MacCorkindale, who has starred in numerous TV productions and films both in the UK and USA is more recently recognisable as Harry Harper in the BBC’s hospital soap, Casualty. He will be taking over the role of Captain Von Trapp in place of Simon Burke, who’s last night in the production will be 23rd August.
The Sound of Music has a fantastic cast, which includes Summer Strallen playing Maria Von Trapp, Margaret Preece in the role of Mother Abbess, Fiona Sinnott as the Baroness, and the character of Max Detweiler being taken on by Paul Grunert. The 25th August will also see the roles of Liesl and Rolf being taken on by fantastic young British actors Rebecca Lucie and Nadim Naaman.
The London Palladium’s production of The Sound of Music is an Andrew Lloyd Weber revival of the classic musical, which first hit the London stage in November 2006, following the immensely successful TV talent search ‘How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria’, which saw Connie Fisher win the original role of Maria.
The london show is a great hit with audiences and incredibly popular, with all the favourite music from the original film including ‘The Sound of Music (The Hills are Alive with)’, ‘Do-Re-Me’, ‘My Favourite Things’ and ‘Something Good’.
