Show Overview

It is 1931 and composer Richard Strauss and writer Stephan Zweig are about to embark upon a fruitful artistic partnership. However, Zweig is Jewish and as the Nazi’s rise, this poses a serious dilemma for Strauss.

‘Collaboration’ is a serious and thought provoking play that is linked to ‘Taking Sides‘ which it can be seen in conjunction with. Written by Ronald Harwood, ‘Collaboration’ unravels the complexities of betrayal in the highly charged political environment of Nazi Germany. As the artistic relationship between Zweig and Strauss grows, can they ignore the increasing political tension? And when does collaboration become betrayal?

Ronald Harwood has many stage and screen credits to his name for which he has won numerous awards, including the 2008 BAFTA award for Best Adapted Screenplay for ‘The Diving Bell and the Butterfly’. ‘Collaboration’ and ‘Trading Places’ are likely to bring more prestigious strings to his bow.
