Latest from the Royal Court

Many theatre goers assume that if they want to see a star studded london show, they need to concentrate on the West End. However, there are many theatres which provide consistently enjoyable fare slightly further afield. One of the most notable of these is the Royal Court Theatre in Sloane Square.

It is a very cool place to hang out and there always seem to be people from theatre, film and television in the bar there as well as on stage. In addition to the main productions, there are regular rehearsed readings and one-off performances.

There are two new plays there at the moment, one from a brand new writer and one from one of the most popular established British playwrights.

In the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs until the 21st of March is ‘A Miracle’ written by new writer Molly Davies. The play is set in Norfolk and is about how everybody wants a better life regardless of their circumstances.

Meanwhile, in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs, also until the 21st of March, Mark Ravenhill’s new work is playing. ‘Over There’ is about twin brothers who have grown up separated by the Berlin Wall and how they eventually meet again and struggle to reconnect. Real life brothers Harry and Luke Treadaway play the brothers.
