The Tristan Bates Theatre

The Tristan Bates Theatre describes itself as having all the daring of the fringe whilst being in the heart of the West End. Their artistic policy is to stage new work, works in progress and what they term as experiments.

When their mission statement starts to talk about productions that make new demands of the actor or rethink form and structure or even to use language in a new way, some might be put off. However a look at their forthcoming productions suggests that the main difference between them and other fringe venues is a rather lofty mission statement.

One production that looks to be well worth a look is ‘Whispering Happiness’, a new play by Kenneth Emson. It runs from the 9th of June until the 4th of July. It is directed by Hannah Tyrrell-Pinder and designed by Georgina Lowe. Already confirmed in the cast is Abigail Hood whose recent shows have included ‘The Bomb’ at the Dukes Theatre in Lancaster and a wonderful production of ‘Weapons of Happiness’ at the Finborough Theatre.

The Tristan Bates only seats 59 so it will be best to buy your theatre tickets early for this exciting new company.

The show is produced by Box of Tricks Theatre who will also be presenting two world premieres at summer festivals this year.
