Painting a Wall

Theatre tickets are already on sale for the Finborough Theatre’s next production, ‘Painting a Wall’. It will run from the 12th of May until the 6th of June. It is the first ever revival of David Lan’s first play.

It is set in 1970 in Cape Town and tells the story of four Cape Coloured South African painters. Apartheid is at its height and we follow the men as they perform the task of painting walls the government regulation white. They are on a strict time limit and risk no pay and even harsh punishment if they don’t do as they‘ve been ordered. The trouble is they have been given the wrong colour paint.

Titas Halder directs and the cast of four is comprised of Howard Charles, Jacob Anderson, Syrus Lowe and Peter Landi. Design is by Alex Marker, and lighting by James Smith.

Jacob Andersen recently appeared in ‘King Lear’ for Headlong Theatre Company under the direction of Rupert Goold. His TV credits include ‘Spooks’, ‘Casualty’, ‘Primeval’ and ‘The Whistleblowers’.

Howard Charles’ most recent theatre was the national tour of ‘The Hounding of David Oluwale’. He also played in ‘The Three Sisters’ at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.
