The Hokey Cokey Man
Here is a new London show that promises to have you shaking everything about. ‘The Hokey Cokey Man’ by Alan Balfour is set to run at the New End Theatre in Hampstead from the 20th of May until the 21st of June.
The playwright is the grandson of Al Tabor, the popular band leader and violinist. It is Tabor’s story that the play tells from the beginning of the twentieth century through to the 1980s. Al Tabor is perhaps best remembered as the composer of ‘The Hokey Cokey’.
The play is directed by the New End’s own Ninon Jerome, designed by Lotte Collett and the lighting is by David W Kidd. The cast includes James Doherty, Issy Van Randwyck, Lee Ormsby, Anna Acton and Michael Gilroy.
Issy Van Randwyck already has her next job lined up. She will go on to appear in the one woman show, ‘An Audience with Marilyn Monroe’ at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh in August. Her previous theatre credits include ‘Once in a Lifetime’ at the National Theatre, and ‘Two Gentlemen of Verona’ and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ for the Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park.
Lee Ormsby’s television credits include ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Down to Earth’.
James Doherty’s West End credits include ‘Marguerite’ and ‘Les Miserables’. TV appearances include ‘Eastenders’ and ‘Casualty’.
