‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ play comes to the West End and tickets can be booked now! Opening 9th September and booking until 9th January 2010, this promises to be a wonderful production of the iconic film from 1961. Staring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ was an instant hit and has proved to be one of the best loved films of all time. It also claims one of the most well known cinematic songs and Oscar winning, ‘Moon River’ by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer.

The stage production of Breakfast at Tiffany’s retells the story of Holly Golightly, a New York socialite; down to earth, beautifully naïve and wonderfully eccentric, she has the looks and the style but no money. She is beautiful and unhappy and longs for the riches that she sees through the window of the upmarket Jewellery store, ‘Tiffany’s’. As she sets her sights on marrying someone very rich, she meets Paul Varjak, a tenant in the flats where Holly lives with her cat simply called ‘Cat’. We discover that Paul is an out of work writer, down on his luck and with no money. For this reason, Holly does not consider him as a potential suiter, but without doubt they have a connection.

With two rich marriage possibilities, Holly’s real ‘husband’ turns up. The truth about her background are revealed but she insists the marriage was annulled and therefore she is still free to marry. However her husband to be has gone off and married someone else. Things between her and Paul begin to get interesting as they spend more time with each other but then she infuriates him by choosing to marry someone else.

When Holly ends up in prison for being innocently connected with a drug ring, her new rich Brazilian lover ends the relationship. In a tumultuous ending, Paul picks Holly up from prison with Cat who Holly turfs out into the rain. Bitter and dejected, Holly risks losing everything but when Paul leaves the cab accusing her of being afraid, she runs after him. Together they find Cat and kiss passionately.

Staring in this remake is the delightful Anna Friel as Holly and American Joseph Cross as Paul.
