Dreamboats and Petticoats

‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’ will become a London show when it transfers to the Savoy Theatre in the West End. It will run from the 29th of July until the 12th of September. Previews start on the 22nd of July. The musical is based around hits of the Fifties and Sixties.

There have been two hit ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’ albums, the first of which sold more than 600,000 copies. The albums feature hits from artists such as The Shadows, Roy Orbison, Billy Fury and Eddie Cochran.

In the best tradition of the juke box musical, the writers Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran built a story around the hits. They are best known for their original work on TV shows such as ‘Shine On Harvey Moon’ and ‘Birds of a Feather’.

Hits in the show include ‘C’mon Everybody’, ‘Great Pretender’, Let’s Twist Again’, ‘Let It Be Me’, ‘Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen’, ‘Runaround Sue’, ‘Only Sixteen’, ‘Little Town Flirt’, ‘Three Steps to Heaven’, ‘Bobby’s Girl’, ‘Shakin’ All Over’, ‘Let’s Dance’ and ‘To Know Him is to Love Him’.

The show is directed by Bob Tomson and designed by Sean Cavanagh. The choreography is by Carole Todd with lighting by Mark Howett, musical supervision by Keith Strachan and sound by Ben Harrison.
