Come stand on The Mountaintop with a legend

Monday, July 27th, 2009

The Mountaintop portrays a fictitious scenario of the last night on earth of the world-renowned Martin Luther King. King was assassinated the day after making his historic speech at the Mason Temple, while standing on the balcony outside his room in the Lorraine Hotel.

This play was written by Katori Hall who grew up in Memphis, the location of Martin Luther King’s assassination. Katori Hall is a feminist and brings a delightful feminist twist into this tale of tragedy that turns the events of that evening into a human and warm story.

We have theatre tickets available for this play currently at the Trafalgar Studios at affordable prices to suit everyone’s price range.

An evening to remember

Of course, no-one knows exactly how Martin Luther King spent his last evening. Katori Hall has brought a wonderful possibility alive in this play, where the audience meet Camae – who has a broad feminist streak in her – as she interacts with King. The audience shares the repartee between Camae and Kind as they flirt and talk and get into serious debate.

Camae, a woman that proudly states that God is a woman, brings a strong female presence into this last night of Martin Luther King. Katori Hall has achieved the perfect balance between handling a sensitive issue with tenderness and infusing it with a sense of warmth that leaves the audience comfortable with her vision of King’s last night on earth.

So book your tickets now through Concierge Desk so as not to miss this wonderful play performed by actors David Harewood and Lorraine Burroughs.

Be mystified

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

Throughout the ages the theatre has drawn on many different sources of inspiration in order to be able to put on a diverse and entertaining show. Religion is one of the most common sources of inspiration for any theatrical show. This is because religion offers you something deeper than just entertainment.

It offers you an insight into life, lessons to learn from, a spiritual connection and having a good time and much more. When it comes to theatre in the UK, one of the starring religions is Christianity.

This is especially true of The Mysteries – Yimimangaliso. This theatrical production can be seen at the Garrick Theatre on Charring Cross Road in London between September 11th and October 3rd of this year, 2009.

Story time

The Mysteries – Yimimangaliso is a play/dance production that follows the tradition of people portraying Bible verses. This show is modelled on multicultural South African tradition and sees London being introduced to ‘Isango Portogello’, a South African Company. The production of The Mysteries – Yimimangaliso is an exciting and dramatic one.

What makes the show even more dramatic and captivating is the use of different dialects. English is the primary language used in this show but it also incorporates Afrikaans, Zulu and others. Don’t be put off by the fact that you may not be able to understand one or two of the languages used.

This production is so beautifully portrayed and played out that words can only compliment it. At Concierge Desk we have theatre tickets available at great prices for this exuberant and tantalising show; you will certainly not be disappointed.
