Chilling suspense when An Inspector Calls

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

The play, An Inspector Calls has been billed as ‘the theatrical event of our generation’. The theatrical adaptation of the classic thriller, written by J.B. Priestly has already scooped 10 awards. It is the tale of what happens when Inspector Goole interrupts a Birling family dinner party. The story plays off during World War I when Inspector Goole arrives to investigate the death of a young woman.

As the drama unfolds it comes to light that each member of the Birling family has a connection to the dead woman, and a sordid tale of exploitation comes to light. An Inspector Calls holds the audience captive and on the edge of their seats throughout the entire performance.

Show Overview

The story of Marilyn Monroe is as a tragic one; as an iconic figure of the 20th Century, she captured the hearts of men and women with her sultry sex appeal and little girl innocence. But behind the fame and fortune was an insecure and unhappy figure; adored by thousands she lived her life alone fighting the demons of a  confused and unhappy childhood and three failed marriages.

‘Marilyn: Forever Blonde’ is a heart warming and wonderful account of Marilyn’s last days. It is her last photo shoot and she is wistful and nostalgic, looking back on a career that resulted in her being the biggest sex symbol of the silver screen and arguably in cinema history.

‘Marilyn: Forever Blonde’ is not only encapsulating due to the accuracy and study of the legend, but in capturing possible reflections of her tragic life and her meteoric rise to fame, it is a heartbreaking, warm, funny and thought provoking study.

If you love Marilyn Monroe, this production will leave you almost breathless with the truth and poignancy of the portrayal. But for those who have just a passing interest in the rise and fall of a star, ‘Marilyn: Forever Blonde’ will intrigue and delight and sadden.

A warm and wonderful production; highly recommended.
