The Lion King: A puuurfect night out!

Friday, October 30th, 2009

At the time, The Lion King broke various animation records when released in the cinemas. Since then, the story of Simba’s life in the African plains, from lion cub to leader of the pack as he avenges his murdered father and rises to leader of the tribe.

Strongly influenced by Shakespeare’s Hamlet, The Lion King has been adapted brilliantly for the stage. Running until August, 2010, at The Lyceum Theatre, London, the Serengeti is beautifully realised in this epic production.

Destined to become King of the Pridelands, Simba enjoys a close relationship with his father Mufasa, who teaches Simba right from wrong. Simba employs a care-free attitude toward his future role, only for his world to be turned upside down when Mufasa is murdered at the paws of his brother, Scar. Exiled and in turmoil – blaming himself for his father’s death – we follow Simba’s life as he seeks redemption, and his journey back to reclaim his home and family.

Les Miserables London theatre tickets

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Considered to be one of the greatest novels of the nineteenth century this masterpiece by Victor Hugo has been captivating audiences since its creation. The tale of Valjean who escapes from prison after being imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his family is as alluring today as it was when the book was written.

Undoubtedly the screen adaptation of this masterpiece brings all the great characters of the book to life with great gusto. It’s fascinating watching the story of how Valjean changes from being a thief to promising the sickly woman Fantine that he would bring her daughter to her.

To add to the great storyline are historical facts surrounding the time of the French Revolution that the author managed to spin quite wonderfully into the overall plot of the story. The wonderful story of Les Miserables is currently on at the Queen’s Theatre and Concierge Desk are able to provide London theatre tickets to anyone who wishes to experience this extraordinary tale.

The Phantom of the Opera

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

“Beneath the opera house, I know he’s there, he’s with me on the stage, he’s everywhere…” Those are the words to one of the most significant songs in the amazing play The Phantom of The Opera. This wonderful tale of secrets and hidden chambers remains a favourite to this very day.

The Phantom is a deformed performer who has been performing for the opera house for many years and is even remunerated for it, and yet, nobody knows who he is. During the course of the play he decided to coach a young girl to reach the full potential of her singing talent and she achieves this.

There is remarkable twist of jealousy that develops between the Phantom’s student and her childhood friend. This tale is truly a reminder of the humanity that lies within all of us and that everyone, no matter where they are in life is susceptible to the making the humanly mistakes that we all do.

Get theatre tickets for Chicago now

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

The fabulously famous show Chicago, which revolves around two villainous heroines, has been an absolute smash hit since it was remade in 1997. The story of Velma, the star who murders her husband and her sister when she finds them in the same bed together has been transferred to the big screen also with a start studded cast including Catherine Zeta Jones.

The other heroine in the story is Roxie Hart who was arrested and jailed for murdering her boyfriend. The story really gets interesting when both the ladies are represented by the same lawyer, Billy Flynn, who through smart trickery influences their various trials. His very dynamic personality and style of litigation ensure that the girls end up as celebrities.

A further twist to the already twisted story line is that the ladies end up battling each other as they both try to steal the limelight and get their faces on the front page. They also contend for Billy’s attention which brings a wonderful element of fun and humour to the entire show.
