Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Theatre has always been a much-loved form of entertainment in the UK and persists to be one of the best experiences that the modern world has to offer. It is kind of an old trend made new and has been given a fresh breath of air as contemporary and older shows enthral audiences who invest in theatre tickets.

Now, the National Theatre publishes a report each year and it is more than interesting to see what has been developing or falling short in the theatrical world over the past year. This year’s report brings delightful news to all theatre lovers around the UK.

Revealing secrets

The year of 2008/2009 saw the theatre introduce theatre tickets for shows on Sundays as well as NT Live and to add to that, the South Bank saw positive growth this past year too. The most welcomed figures show that the productions held at the National Theatre entertained a grand total of 817,000 theatre enthusiasts this year. These are positive facts and figures from the UK theatrical world over the past year, which are sure to delight any theatre enthusiast.

Morecambe is an Eric Morecambe tribute show - Play / Comedy,

Show Overview / Review

‘Morecambe’ is about the celebrated British comic Eric Morecambe; ‘the tall one with glasses’.

Played by Bob Golding, Eric Morecambe is brought to life again and this tribute to Eric Morecambe is a must see for fans of traditional English comedy. He portrays the legend beautifully with amazing attention to detail; it is 25 years since the comic’s untimely death but he may as well be standing on stage again.

‘Morecambe’ had a sell out run at the Edinburgh Festival and won the prestigious ‘Fringe First Award’. Since then, many comic greats have added their seal of approval to the warm and funny one man theatrical event, citing Golding as a superb comic actor whose portrayal of Eric is truthful, spot on, spectacular.

For those of us who remember Morecambe and Wise, ‘Morecambe’ is a reminder of a past age where comedy was innocent and the ‘Great British Public’ thought as one for their entertainment thrills. For those too young to remember the brilliance of Morecambe and Wise, go along and be caught up in the tale of a man who was a born entertainer; someone who could make you laugh just by looking at him.

Don’t miss out on this brilliant comedy by Tim Whitnall.

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

The play Jerusalem has been on stage to rave reviews at the Royal Court theatre, but for many that did not get tickets in time, there is good news. You are all getting a second chance when Jerusalem moves to the Apollo Theatre in London’s West End in February 2010. Ensure that you are not disappointed this time.

Book your London theatre tickets for this extraordinary play early with us at Concierge Desk. This is not a play for the meek as it is a truly ‘in your face’ shocker and some very inventive swearing can be heard in this 3-hour long play. It is a defiant portrayal of the 21st century shires in England. Critics have called charismatic, hilarious, defiant and bold, shrewd and completely invigorating.

St George’s Day will never be the same

It is the story of Johnny Byron, called the Rooster who is compulsive liar, an ex-daredevil that lives in the local woods in a caravan. He is always in trouble, gets raucously drunk and deals drugs on the side. On St George’s Day he has the council on his trail – they want to evict him, his mates, his drugs and booze.

His children are whining to be taken to the fair and another wants to beat him up. Not a good day for Johnny who is a total waster and at the same time irresistible to people. Throughout the play the audience meet various characters, each with his or her own set of problems, eccentricities and agendas.

Make sure that you book your London theatre tickets with us early for Jerusalem, so as to not miss this brilliant play. It is seldom that a stage production can bring so many aspects together and pull it off in such a dazzling display, Concierge Desk is the premier source online for cheap theatre tickets.

Love Never Dies is a Musical

Show Overview / Review

‘Love Never Dies’ is the new musical extravaganza by Andrew Lloyd Webber that is set to take over the theatrical world after its’ recent UK launch.

It is the long awaited revival of the story of the mysterious Phantom and opera singer Christine. ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ continues to play to packed houses across the world and the story of the Phantom and his love for Christine is a tragedy that is heightened by the breathtaking musical genius of Lloyd Webber.

‘Love Never Dies’ has been years in the writing and so fans and critics can expect some powerful ballads and a storyline to stimulate the romantic senses.

It is ten years since the Phantom fled from the Paris Opera house and now he roams the fairgrounds of Coney Island in New York. Christine with husband Raoul and son Gustave accepts an offer to perform in Coney Island, unaware that the Phantom is behind her invitation.

‘Love Never Dies’ is a passionate journey of obsession and intrigue and once again Lloyd Webber uses the power of song to create a world where music can effect the mind and play cruel tricks to those desperate enough.
