Christie in Love

Howard Brenton is 66 and is one of the country’s greatest living playwrights. Not only does he continue to write for the stage with recent productions at the National Theatre and Shakespeare’s globe, but revivals of plays from the last forty years continue to be produced on the London stage. Last year, ‘Weapons of Happiness’ was revived to critical acclaim at the Finborough Theatre. This month there is a production of ‘Bloody Poetry’ at the White Bear Theatre, but perhaps the most exciting news is that there is to be a revival of ‘Christie in Love’ at the Lion and Unicorn running from 27 October to 22 November. theatre tickets for both shows are already available.

Dan Ayling, one of the UK’s top young directors, directs. He has worked with, and learnt from, some of the top directors including Lucy Bailey and Katie Mitchell. He also directed ‘Can’t Stand Up For Falling Down’ at the Arcola and ‘The Kiss’ at the Hampstead Theatre.

Peter Henderson plays Christie, the man who murdered at least 6 women and was hung in 1953. Peter’s recent credits include ‘Far From the Madding Crowd’ at the Gatehouse and ‘Talk in the Park’ at the New End Theatre.

Philip Whiteman plays the constable. His credits include television shows in America, where he trained and recent stage credits ‘The Pillowman’ and ‘The Merchant of Venice’ at the Theatre Royal Winchester.
