Our Class
‘Our Class’ is currently running in repertory at the National’s Cottesloe Theatre with theatre tickets on sale for dates up until 12 January, 2010. It has already received critical acclaim, summed up by the Daily Telegraph;
“A remarkable and powerful play… It is hard to praise the 10-strong cast too highly.”
The play, written by Tadeusz Slobodzianek and translated by Ryan Craig is directed by Bijan Sheibani. Bijan is part British, part Iranian and has steadily established himself as a top director, particularly in the last three years. In 2007, he directed ‘Gone Too Far’ at the Royal Court and ‘The Brothers Size’ at the Young Vic. Already this year he has directed‘Tarantula in Petrol Blue’ for the Aldeburgh Music Festival and ‘Ghosts’ at the Arcola.
‘Our Class’ is designed by Bunny Christie. It stars Sinead Matthews as Dora. Sinead graduated from RADA in 2003 and seems to have been working non-stop. She has starred alongside Johnny Vegas in ‘Ideal’ and has already worked on two Mike Leigh films ‘Happy-Go-Lucky’ and ‘Vera Drake’. She also worked with acclaimed theatre director Katie Mitchell on the National Theatre’s production of ‘Women of Troy’.
Lee Ingleby plays Zygmunt. His film credits include ‘Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azkaban’ and ‘Hippy Hippy Shake’. Television work includes playing regular John Bacchus in ‘George Gently’.
