The Misanthrope
Martin Crimp has written a new version of the classic French comedy by Moliere, ‘The Misanthrope’. Both Crimp and Moliere seem to be enjoying a great deal of popularity at the moment. Crimp is the writer of choice for the wonderful director Katie Mitchell and has adapted ‘Pains of Youth’ for a forthcoming production at the National Theatre. Around the same time his Moliere adaptation will also open in the West End with a star-studded cast. We have theatre tickets available here at Concierge Desk.
Meanwhile Moliere has been as popular as ever in 2009. The Liverpool Everyman staged a wonderful adaptation, by Roger McGough, of ‘The Hypochondriac’, which starred Clive Francis and is on tour with English Touring Theatre until the middle of November. In addition Bulgakov’s rarely performed play about the Frenchman, ‘Moliere, or the League of Hypocrites’ is being performed at the Finborough Theatre from 24 November until 19 December, you can get cheap theatre tickets with us on our website.
‘The Misanthrope’ is being directed by Thea Sharrock and will run at the Comedy Theatre from 17 December, with previews from 7 December. Theatre tickets for this show are already available with booking through until 13 March 2010.
It will star Keira Knightley, Damian Lewis, Tara Fitzgerald, Tim McMullan and Dominic Rowan.
