Artist Descending A Staircase
Christmas is traditionally the time for pantomime and the sale of theatre tickets for the lavish musicals in the West End seem to be in even greater demand in the festive season. However, there are also some great dramas being revived. Here is news of one of them.
Tom Stoppard’s play ‘Artist Descending a Staircase’ will play at the Old Red Lion Theatre in london for the whole month of December. Tom Stoppard is one of our greatest playwrights, although some people argue that his work flatters the intellect of the observer. However, he still seems as popular as ever with a revival of ‘Arcadia’ in the West End this year selling lots of theatre tickets.
‘Artist’ tells the story of three contemporary artists who have lived and worked together for decades. One of them is found dead and questions are raised regarding the precise nature of the artists’ relationship, both personally and professionally.
Jeremy Child stars in the production. His film credits include ‘A Fish Called Wanda’, ‘Whatever Happened to Harold Smith?’ and ‘Wimbledon’. His television work includes ‘Harnessing Peacocks’, ‘Eastenders’ and ‘Margaret Thatcher: The Long Walk to Freedom’. His contribution to theatre includes ‘Madness of King George III’ at the National Theatre, ‘An English Tragedy’ at the Watford Palace Theatre and ‘Balmoral’ at the Theatre Royal Bath.
He is joined by David Weston whose previous stage credits include ‘Summerfolk’ and ‘Money’ at the National Theatre.
