All My Sons
One of Arthur Miller’s greatest dramas is coming to West End theatres in London in the New Year and the starry cast looks set to ensure that it will be a huge hit. Don’t delay if you want theatre tickets for what looks likely to be one of 2010’s top shows.
Miller’s plays have been a staple of West End theatre in London for a number of years with profound plays such as ‘Death of a Salesman’ and ‘View From a Bridge’ being huge hits. His plays usually place plausible characters in revealing socio-economic contexts. The formula for certain success seems to be to put star names into the show and the producers have taken no chances where their casting is concerned. They are currently completing their cast, but have announced Zoe Wanamaker and David Suchet as the parents of the dysfunctional family whose father is keeping a secret which, when revealed, will rip them apart.
Zoe Wanamaker is best known for television work starring in ‘My Family’ and such series as ‘Gormenghast’ and ‘Dance to the Music of Time’. She has been a regular at the National Theatre where she has starred in ‘The Rose Tattoo’, ‘His Girl Friday’ and ‘Much Ado About Nothing’. David Suchet is best known for playing Hercule Poirot on television, where he also starred in ‘Victoria and Albert’ and ‘The Way We Live Now’.
