Polar Bears

The novelist Mark Haddon has enjoyed tremendous success with his original novels ‘The Curious incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’ and ‘A Spot of Bother.’ They caught the imagination and became book club favourites. He has now turned his hand to writing plays, and seems set to enjoy equal praise for this craft.

‘Polar Bears’ will run from 1st April to 22nd May 2010 at the Donmar Warehouse theatre in London. It will be directed by Jamie Lloyd and designed by Soutra Gilmour. theatre tickets for the show are already on sale.

The play tells the story of a man and his relationship with a woman who has a serious psychological condition which seems somehow to be connected with the cycles of the moon. It will star Richard Coyle and Jodhi May.

One of Coyle’s first high profile roles was as the hapless Jeff in the BBC’s comedy series ‘Coupling.’ He then went on to play the lead in ‘Strange’. His film roles include ‘A Good Year’, ‘The Libertine’ and ‘Happy Now.’ Previous theatre credits include ‘The York Realist’ at the Royal Court and a double bill of Harold Pinter plays – ‘The Lover’ and ‘The Collection’ in the West End.

Jodhi May’s television credits include ‘Emma’ and ‘The Street’. Previous theatre includes ‘Blackbird’ in the West End.
