Really Old, Like Forty Five
‘Really Old, Like Forty Five’ is a black comedy by Tamsin Oglesby which imagines a not too distant future where the idea of state care for the elderly becomes distinctly unpleasant. The play, directed by Anna Mackmin for the National Theatre in London, currently has theatre tickets available up until 17th March but it seems a safe bet that it will continue in repertory after that date.
The show stars Paul Ritter who has previously appeared at the National in ‘The Hothouse’, ‘The Reporter’ and ‘The Royal Hunt of the Sun.’ Other theatrical credits include ‘The Night Heron’ and ‘Food Chain’ for the Royal Court, ‘Accidental Death of an Anarchist’ at the Donmar Warehouse and ‘The Birthday Party’ in the West End. His films include ‘Quantum of Solace’, ‘Son of Rambow’ and ‘The Other Man.’ Television credits include ‘He Kills Coppers’, ‘Viva Blackpool’ and ‘Pulling.’
Ritter is joined by Amelia Bullmore who recently played his wife in ‘The Norman Conquests’ at the Old Vic and on Broadway.
Also starring in this production is Tanya Franks, one of the stars of the BBC sitcom ‘Pulling.’ Other television work includes ‘Eastenders’ and ‘Holby City.’ Recent theatre credits include ‘The Black Album’ at the National and ‘The Tin Horizon’ at Theatre 503.
