The Rose Theatre
The Rose Theatre’s new season has been announced, and will include a production of Noel Coward’s Hay Fever, running from the 28th September and starring Celia Imrie. Theatre tickets for the Kingston venue are on sale now.
Artistic director Stephen Unwin will direct Hay Fever, which will become the ninth in-house production at the Rose Theatre in London since it first opened in 2008. Imrie will play Judith Bliss alongside the RSC’s Alexandra Gilbreath in the role of Myra Arundal.
Commenting on the play Unwin said: “I’m thrilled to be directing Noël Coward’s great comedy of bad manners, which seems to me one of the most perfectly achieved 20th century English plays. With this production, I want to lay bare the brilliant assault on suburban values that lies at the heart of the play.”
Imrie has recently been seen on stage in Plague Over England at the Duchess Theatre and The Rivals at the Southwark Playhouse.
Also part of the season is The Three Musketeers, which will be showing over Christmas and is the first musical at the Rose.
The Three Musketeers, adapted for the stage by Alexandre Dumas, follows the legendary adventure of D’Artagnan as he quests to become one of the Kings musketeers. This new stage adaptation is billed as “sultry, passionate and full of the heat of Parisian summers.”
The Three Musketeers will run from 3 December until 2 January.
