Sweeney Todd is a Musical

Show Overview / Sweeney Todd Review

Sweeny Todd comes to the West End in March 2012 after it’s sell out success at the Chichester Festival Theatre! Michael Ball, the distinguished musical performer is cast in the leading role as the revenge seeking, demonistic villan. Imelda Staunton, his pie making accomplice, plays the rapacious Mrs Lovett. She dreams of making her fortune by human flesh. Todd, driven to madness by injustice of all the wrongs done to him and his family, teams up with Mrs Lovett and goes from an individual seeking revenge to a bloody thirsty serial killer.

Set in Fleet Street London in 1725, Todd rented a shop in this haven for cut throats, harlots and gin drinkers. Poverty and decadence was widespread. He engineers a trap door in his barbers to where his clients fell to their death. He meets up with Mrs Lovett and uses his victims as ingredients for her ‘pork and veal’ pies. At 12 o clock every day, there was a rush by the locals to buy these delicious pies.

With standing obvations every night, critics and audiences agree that this musical is unmissable. With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and produced by Jonathan Kent this musical will give you with a memorable but skin prickling evening!

The top five family shows in our opinion and sales figures are: The Wizard of Oz, Matilda, Lion King, Ghost and Shrek. On a more adult note, the popular ones are Jersey Boys, Rock of Ages, We Will Rock You, Wicked and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Why not try a matinee if you have young children! We can offer Meal Deals on most of the above shows which combine a show with a two course meal, so please take a look and pre book to avoid disappointment!
