Andersen’s English holiday
Saturday, January 16th, 2010A new play by Sebastian Barry comes to the Hampstead Theatre on in 2010; ‘Andersen’s English Holiday’, directed by Max Stafford Clark and produced by Out Of Joint. It imagines Hans Christian Andersen staying with Charles Dickens and his family, and willl tour to Bury St Edmunds, Clwyd, Coventry, Leeds, Manchester, Southampton and Salisbury before running at Hampstead from 7th April to 8th May. Theatre tickets are now on sale.
Niamh Cusack stars. Her previous theatre performances include ‘Breathing Corpses’ at the Royal Court Theatre, ‘The Enchantment’ at the National Theatre in London and ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’ at the Old Vic. She is known by many for her television work, including roles in ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Fallen Angel.’
David Rintoul joins Cusack in the cast. His previous theatre experience includes ‘The Winslow Boy’ for Chichester Festival, ‘The Island Princess’ and ‘The American Pilot’ for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and ‘Dirty Dancing.’ His television credits include ‘Sweet Medicine’ and the well-known ‘Midsomer Murders’, and films include Roman Polanski’s ‘The Ghost.’
Rose Leslie is also in the cast. Her previous stage credits include ‘Mixed Up North’ for Out Of Joint and ‘Get Up and Tie Your Fingers’ for Northumberland Theatre Company. Television credits include ‘Banged Up Abroad’ and ‘New Town.’
Danny Sapani plays Andersen. His previous theatre work includes ‘Big White Fog’ at the Almeida, ‘Radio Gold’ at the Tricycle and ‘Wig Out’ at the Royal Court.
