In December 2004, a play staged in Birmingham hit the headlines. Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti’s ‘Behzti’ was cancelled after violent protests in Birmingham by people who believed the play was anti-Sikh. Now the playwright has written what is described as a “playful” response to what she went through as a result of that experience, and is being shown in theatres in London.

The new play is called ‘Behud’, which means ‘beyond belie’f. It will be directed by the Soho Theatre’s outgoing artistic director Lisa Goldman and comes to the Soho, after a run at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre, from 13th April until 8th May.

There will also be a series of free discussions and talks under the title ‘Speechless: Theatre and freedom of expression.’

Also coming to the Soho Theatre in 2010 is a new piece of theatre entitled ‘Gambling’ which has been created by Raz Shaw and Georgina Lamb and developed with the assistance of the Royal Court Theatre’s Rough Cuts programme. It will run from 17th March to 10th April. Theatre tickets for this show are already on sale.

From 2nd March to 13th March, there will be a new thriller by Scottish writer Douglas Maxwell. Johnny McKnight directs ‘Promises Promises’, telling the story of a Somali family who believe their child is possessed and a retired teacher who tries to rescue the child.

We at Concierge Desk love theatre, but what we love even more is finding great deals in cheap London theatre tickets and bringing them straight to you. Don’t forget we regularly update our offers on theatre tickets, so it is wise to check our website frequently.
