Calendar Girls

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

‘Calendar Girls’ has become something of a fixture in the West End. It famously tells the story of members of the Women’s Institute who decided to make a calendar to raise money for charity. In order to ensure maximum publicity these ‘ladies of a certain age’ decided to pose naked. The film telling of their exploits starred Julie Walters and Helen Mirren and was a huge success. The screenplay was written by Tim Firth who has also adapted the story for the stage.

The show is about to launch its third West End cast, who will take over from 03 November 2009 for 10 weeks with theatre tickets available until 9 January 2010. The show plays at the Noel Coward Theatre.

Janie Dee joins the company. She is a regular in the West End and recently starred in ‘Woman in Mind’. Kelly Brook is another newcomer to the show. Julie Goodyear, best known for playing Bet Lynch in ‘Coronation Street’ will make her West End debut. Comedy actresses Debbie Chazen, Helen Lederer and Arabella Weir also join the company.
