Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

An all black cast star in a revival of Tennessee Williams’ classic play ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ which runs at the Novello Theatre until 10th April 2010. You can get theatre tickets from us at Concierge Desk.

James Earl Jones, the American actor famous for his deep tones, and for providing the voice of Darth Vader in the Star Wars films and Mufasa in ‘The Lion King’, stars as Big Daddy. He has transferred from the Broadway production of this play, as has Phylicia Rashad who plays Big Mama. She is probably best known for her role as Bill Cosby’s wife in ‘The Cosby Show’ but is also a very experienced stage actress who has regularly appeared on Broadway.

Adrian Lester plays Brick. His films include ‘Scenes of a Sexual Nature’, ‘Spiderman 3’ and ‘As You Like It’. He is best known for his television work which includes ‘Merlin’, ‘Bonekickers’ and most famously ‘Hustle’. He has also played some memorable stage roles which include the title role in ‘Henry V’ at the National Theatre, Hamlet for director Peter Brook and, would you believe, Roasalind in ‘As You Like It’ for the excellent Cheek by Jowl.

Nina Sosanya plays Mae. Another well known face from television, her credits include ‘Teachers’, ‘Nathan Barley’ and ‘Doctor Who’.

It is a transfer of the Broadway production, directed by Debbie Allen and featuring an all black cast. It ran for four months last year at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York.
