Anupama Chandrasekhar is a Chennai based playwright who has received assistance from the Royal Court Theatre’s International Writers Programme. Her first play was ‘Free Outgoing’ which premiered in 2007. The Court now also presents her second play ‘Disconnect’ which will run from 17th February to 20th March. Theatre tickets are now on sale.

The play is set in an Indian call centre where graduates pass themselves off as American and chase those unfortunate enough to be struggling under the burden of debt.

The cast includes Paul Bhattacharjee. He is a regular at the Royal Court and his previous productions there have included ‘Blood Wedding’, ‘Iranian Nights’ and ‘The Burrow’. His television credits include ‘Two Oranges and a Mango’, ‘Chilli In Your Eyes’ and ‘Shalom Salaam’. His films include ‘White Teeth’, ‘Dirty Pretty Things’ and ‘Wild West’.

Alongside Bhattacharjee is Ayesha Dharker. Her films include ‘Arabian Nights’, ‘City of Joy’ and ‘Anita and Me’. Television includes ‘Life Isn’t All Ha Ha Hee Hee’, ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Coronation Street’. Her previous theatre includes ‘The Ramayana’ at the National Theatre.

Also in the cast is Hasina Haque. This young actress has already appeared at the National Theatre in London in ‘All’s Well That Ends Well’ and ‘England People Very Nice’.
