Dunsinane

Monday, February 15th, 2010

David Greig has established himself as one of Scotland and the UK’s finest playwrights. He has adapted works such as Strindberg’s ‘Creditors’ and Euripides’ ‘The Bacchae,’ but it is for his own work that he is particularly praised. Plays include ‘The Cosmonaut’s Last Message to the Woman he Once Loved in the Former Soviet Union’, ‘The Architect’ and ‘The American Pilot.’ ‘Midsummer’, a play with songs has transferred to the Soho Theatre in London this year and his latest work ‘Dunsinane’ is about to be premiered at the Hampstead Theatre in London where it will run from 10th February until 6th March. Theatre tickets are now on sale and selling fast.

The show will be directed by Roxana Silbert, the former artistic director of Paines Plough and now an associate director with the Royal Shakespeare Company, who produces the show.

‘Dunsinane’ could be seen as a sequel to ‘Macbeth’ as it is set just after the tyrannical king has been killed. It tells the story of the occupying forces and the guerrilla uprising they have to deal with leading to the commanding officer’s alienation.

Siobhan Redmond stars. She first came to national fame as the sidekick to ‘Bulman’ on our television screens where she also starred in ‘The High Life’ and ‘The Smoking Room.’
