Sunday, November 15th, 2009‘Grease’, the musical is in its third year at the Piccadilly Theatre and is already the longest running show in the theatre’s history. theatre tickets are on sale for the show which is currently booking until 3 January 2010.
Noel Sullivan will be taking over the role of Danny Zuko from Ray Quinn. This is Noel’s first appearance in the West End and could be considered his big break although he has appeared in a few musicals before. These include ‘Simply Ballroom’, ‘What a Feeling’ and ‘Love Shack’.
He will join Emma Stephens, who plays his love interest Sandy. Before ‘Grease’, Emma was in ‘Starlight Express’ and ‘Saturday Night Fever’.
Stuart Ramsay plays Kenickie and has previously played in ‘Cats’ and ‘Les Miserables’.
‘Grease’ premiered on Broadway in 1972. The film which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John became the biggest money-maker of any film musical ever.
The composers Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey wrote the show as a reaction against so called traditional musicals filled with show tunes. The current production includes all the hit songs from the film so is a different version to the original show.
