Innocence

Monday, January 11th, 2010

The Arcola Theatre in London has started selling theatre tickets for its first show in 2010, ‘Innocence’ by German writer Dea Loher. The play has been translated by David Tushingham and is directed by Helena Kaut-Howson.

The play tells various interconnected stories involving illegal dockworkers, a serial killer’s mother, an undertaker and a blind pole dancer. It skirts around the dark underbelly of society and deals with misfits.

The cast includes Ann Mitchell, a very experienced actress whose previous stage credits include ‘Whose Life Is It Anyway?’ and ‘Through the Leaves’ in the West End. She was also in the Hammersmith Lyric’s production of Tony Kushner’s ‘Angels in America’ in 2007.

Mitchell is joined by Danny Lee Wynter. He has had leading roles in films ‘Capturing Mary’ and ‘Joe’s Palace’. He has also been seen on our television screens in ‘Trial and Retribution’ and ‘Holby City’. His previous stage credits include playing the fool in last year’s ‘King Lear’ at Shakespeare’s Globe directed by Dominic Dromgoole. Earlier this year he was in ‘The Miser’ at Manchester Royal Exchange and ‘Certain Young Men’ at the Young Vic.

Jane Bertish also stars. Her previous stage credits include ‘Tales From Vienna Woods’ at the National Theatre and ‘Conversations With My Father’ at the Old Vic.
