Last Chance to See Joseph
Saturday, March 14th, 2009The London show, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’ at the Adelphi Theatre had been booking tickets up until the 18th of July 2009. However, it has now been announced that it will close on the 30th of May.
The current production opened in July 2007. Just last month one reality TV star took over from another. Gareth Gates, who was runner-up on ‘Pop Idol’, does not seem to have the pulling power of Lee Mead who was cast as a result of the search on the BBC’s ‘Any Dream Will Do’.
The musical, by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, started life as a 20 minute piece designed for a school’s end of term entertainment. It includes many very popular songs such as ‘Those Canaan Days’, ‘Go, Go, Go Joseph’, ‘Close Every Door To Me’, ‘One More Angel in Heaven’, ‘Benjamin Calypso’ and of course ‘Any Dream Will Do’.
This latest production was a revival of the record breaking production which played at the London Palladium in the 1990s. That original production was directed by the late Steven Pimlott.
There is no news yet of which show will be taking over at the Adelphi.
