Following the re-opening of the Southwark Playhouse in 2007, the venue has become one of the most successful off-West End theatres in London, producing a consistent platform for new writing and emerging theatre companies. Coming to the venue this June is new play Plucker by Alena Smith. Theatre tickets are on sale now.

Alexis is a composer who has recently relocated to uptown Manhattan with her boyfriend. Her parrot hasn’t taken kindly to the move, and is now experiencing panic attacks. Alena Smiths plays have been produced at P.S.122 in New York, The Public Theater, Theater Bielfeld in Germany and at Public Horizons. She graduated from Yale School of Drama.
Director Anna G Jones trained at Yale School of Drama and Cambridge University before running New York theatre company Bone Orchard from 2007-2009. She has been tipped as “one to watch” by New York publication Backstage and Yale Daily News dubbed her “an outstanding director”.
