Private Lives
Thursday, March 25th, 2010Noel Coward is one of British Theatre’s great names. In fact, he’s something of an icon. If proof were needed, one of the London West End’s theatres has been renamed in his honour. Now, one of Coward’s most famous works is to be revived at the Vaudeville Theatre. ‘Private Lives’ will run until May 1st with theatre tickets available for all performances.
The play tells the story of Elyot and Amanda, a divorced couple, who are honeymooning with their new partners in the south of France. In fact, unsuspectingly, they have booked rooms next to each other.
The play has, for many years, been a star vehicle and this latest production stays firmly in that tradition with leading roles for Kim Cattrall and Matthew Macfadyen.
Cattrall is most famously known for being one of the lead characters in the television series and film ‘Sex and the City’. She has also been a movie star for many years with roles in cult eighties films such as ‘Mannequin’, ‘Masquerade’ and ‘Police Academy’ and more recent appearances in ‘My Boy Jack’, ‘The Tiger’s Tail’ and ‘Ice Princess’.
Matthew Macfadyen is also best known for television work including ‘The Way We Live Now’, ‘Little Dorrit’ and ‘Spooks’. His previous stage work includes ‘School For Scandal’ for the Royal Shakespeare Company and playing Prince Hal in both parts of Henry IV for the National Theatre in London.
