Theatre 503 continues its remarkable success under the joint artistic direction of Tim Roseman and Paul Robinson. It has recently committed even more resources to the new writing which it produces with the formation of the 503 five. This is a group of five writers who have not previously had their work produced who are being mentored by the theatre. The 5 writers are Rex Obano, Lou Ramsden, Richard Marsh, Beth Steel and Nimer Rashad. They have already got off to a fabulous start with ‘All I Want for Christmas’, which played to great success at the London theatre in December. They were each tasked with writing a short comedy about the festive season. The result was widely perceived as a very funny, wonderfully entertaining and varied evening.

The second project is ‘Decade’ which sees them joined by 5 established writers, including April de Angelis, David Eldridge and Amy Rosenthal. Each writer will take a year from the last decade and write a ten minute piece. Theatre tickets are already on sale.

The first full length play, by one of the theatre’s new writers, to be produced will be ‘Slaves’ by Rex Obano which will run from 26th January to 20th February. It is set in Wandsworth Prison and shows the considerable difficulties encountered by prisoners and prison officers alike.
