Stage Fright
Monday, February 8th, 2010From time to time, somebody arrives on the London stage that one can’t help but believe is there for the wrong reasons. It is usually somebody whose career as a television presenter, reality star or glamour model has sunk and needs reviving. If the news that Abi Titmuss is coming to the London theatre stage sets your thoughts off in that direction, you would be quite wrong. Titmuss is best known as a pin-up for the so-called lads’ mags. However she trained as an actress at the Central School of Speech and Drama and has been steadily building her reputation as a serious thespian. Past theatre credits include the role of Lady Macbeth and a revival of ‘Up ‘n’ Under’ at Hull Truck Theatre in London.
Her next production is ‘Stage Fright’ at the Canal Cafe Theatre in London, which will run from 3rd to 20th February. It is directed by Emma Taylor and theatre tickets for the premiere of this new play by Lynn Howes are already on sale.
Her co-star in this production is Alex Barclay. He recently received wonderful reviews as Polidori in the recent revival of Howard Brenton’s ‘Bloody Poetry.’ Other theatre credits include ‘The Tempest’ at York Theatre Royal and the part of the ridiculous Malvolio in ‘Twelfth Night’. Screen credits include the film ‘Bright Young Things’ and ‘The Queen’s Sister’ on television. The cast is completed by Sion Tudor-Owen.
