The Bridge Project
Tuesday, January 19th, 2010One of the major theatrical events of 2008 was undoubtedly Sam Mendes directing The Bridge Project in productions of Chekov’s ‘The Cherry Orchard’ and Shakespeare’s ‘The Winter’s Tale’, which starred Simon Russell Beale and Rebecca Hall and played at the Old Vic.
In 2010, The Bridge Project returns to The Old Vic under the direction of Sam Mendes, and this time stages two Shakespeare plays; ‘As You Like It’ and ‘The Tempest.’ They will run 12th June to 21st August 2010 and theatre tickets are already on sale.
Stephen Dillane stars, and his film credits include ‘Goal’, ‘King Arthur’ and ‘Fugitive Pieces’. Television appearances include ‘God On Trial’, ‘Anna Karenina’ and ‘The Cazalets.’ His previous stage work includes ‘Four Quartets’ in New York directed by Katie Mitchell, ‘Drunk Enough To Say I Love You?’ at the Royal Court, ‘Macbeth’ at the Almeida and ‘The Coast of Utopia – Trilogy’ at the National Theatre.
Also in the cast is Edward Bennett. His previous theatre credits have included ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and ‘Loves Labours Lost’ for the Royal Shakespeare Company and ‘Othello’ at the Donmar Warehouse. Bennett famously came to the public’s attention when he took over from the injured David Tennant in ‘Hamlet’.
