Wednesday, May 5th, 2010Opening in August at The Bush Theatre in London is a new musical comedy written by three time comedy award nominee Russell Kane, with music from Whatsonstage.com award winner Michael Bruce. The Great British Country Fete is part of a new season at the Bush, and will premiere alongside plays by Anthony Weigh and Elaine Murphy.
Anthea Williams directs, following the success of 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, also at The Bush. The Great British Country Fete takes a mischievous look at country life in Britain with its “melting pot of personalities”. The show will run from 2nd-14th August, with a following tour. Theatre tickets are on sale now.
Writer Russell Kane is best known for his success as a comedian, receiving three separate award nominations at the Edinburgh festival, and appearing with regular stand up spot on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! Kane has recently finished touring with a spoof Shakespeare show set in Essex called Fakespeare: The Tragickal Saveings of King Nigel.
The Bush composer in residence, Michael Bruce is the shows songwriter. He won the Whatsonstage.com award for Ed, which premiered at the Edinburgh festival, and was recently awarded the prize for composition from Notes for the Stage.
