We Will Rock You is the Ben Elton scripted musical featuring music and lyrics by the rock group Queen. It’s been rocking London theatre audiences now for seven years, and still looks and sounds as great today as it did on its opening night at the Dominion Theatre, in London’s West End. Now however We Will Rock You is all set to get on its bicycle race and tour the UK.
The theatre show will be travelling around the country for 43 weeks next year, where it will touch down first in Manchester, in the Palace Theatre. We Will Rock You will run in Manchester from the 20th March until June 6th.
This doesn’t mean bad news for London theatre fans however as the show will still play in the West End, Queen are going nowhere just yet!
Long haired rocker and Queen guitarist Brian May stated:
We are excited to be able, finally, to send a brand new top class We Will Rock You company out on tour around the UK. We are completely hands on, and will be visiting! The Mother Ship, in the Dominion Theatre, London, will be rockin’ on all the while, keeping the home fires burning, until further notice!
Phil McIntyre, the producer of We Will Rock You, stated:
We are bursting with excitement; at last provincial audiences will get a true rock extravaganza. We can’t wait to see the first-night reactions throughout the country. We Will Rock You will rock the UK; it is the biggest and best rock theatrical!
After rocking Manchester, the show will land in Sunderland, at the Empire, running from June 8th. Then it will hit Birmingham’s Hippodrome on July 1st, the Bristol Hippodrome on September 14th and finally the Edinburgh Playhouse on November 2nd.
We Will Rock You has already been seen by more than six million people worldwide and grossed an incredible £100 million plus at the box office.
