Show Overview
Giselle is traditionally one of the finest treasures of the English National Ballet and in this production, Elena Glurdjidze is in the title role of the young peasant woman who is betrayed by her love. Driven to despair, Giselle takes her own life and returns as a ghost when her lover, Count Albrecht comes to visit her grave. At the graveyard, all the brides ghosts haunt their cheating lovers and make them dance to their deaths but Giselle protects her love until the light of dawn.
It is a wonderful production by Wayne Eagling who has also created and showcases his own work as a prelude to Giselle: Men Y Men is a piece for eight male dancers set to music by Rachmaninov; it is thrilling to see the power and grace of the male ballet dancer as they jump, twist and lift.
