The Apollo Theatre

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Coming to the Apollo Theatre in London this spring is Arthur Miller’s All My Sons. Theatre tickets for the show are on sale now.

Starring in this acclaimed play are cast members Zoe Wanamaker, David Suchet, Stephen Campbell Moore, Daniel Lapaine and Jemima Rooper.

Based on a true story, All My Sons tells the tale of Joe Keller, who sells a faulty airplane cylinder from his factory to the US Military, resulting in the death of 21 pilots. Joe blames his former neighbour Steve Deever, who is charged with the crime. Keller’s son Larry is thought to have been killed in action; however, wife and mother Kate Keller cannot accept her son’s death. Neither can she accept the transference of Larry’s fiancee’s affections to his brother, Chris. This entanglement of grief, lies, guilt and corruption culminates in the exposure of a devastating secret.

Jemima Rooper has recently been seen on stage at The National Theatre in London in The Power of Yes and My Naked Skin. Stephen Campbell Moore came to our attention in Stephen Fry’s Bright Young things, and subsequently appeared in The History Boys at The National Theatre and on Broadway. Daniel Lapaine has appeared at the Royal Court in Scenes from The Back and Beyond.

The show is directed by Howard Davies, with design from William Dudley, sound by Paul Groothius and lighting by Mark Henderson.

The Willy Russell Season

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Two fantastic plays written by Liverpool’s Willy Russell are to be revived by the Menier Chocolate Factory. They will run in repertory from 26th March to 8th May and theatre tickets are already on sale. The shows promise to sell out and don’t be surprised if at least one of the shows gets a transfer to London’s West End theatre.

‘Shirley Valentine’ will star Meera Syal. Meera first came to prominence in the hit sketch comedy show ‘Goodness Gracious Me’ and has also starred in ‘The Kumars at No 42’ and ‘Life Isn’t All Ha Ha Hee Hee’. Her last appearance on stage in ‘Rafta Rafta’ at the National Theatre in London prompted great reviews for the show, but some reservations about her stagecraft.

‘Educating Rita’ will co-star Larry Lamb and Laura Dos Santos. Lamb’s profile has never been higher, having starred in two of the biggest shows on television over Christmas. He was the loveable dad Mick in ‘Gavin and Stacey’ and the scheming Archie Mitchell in ‘Eastenders’. His previous stage work includes ‘Five Wives of Maurice Pinder’ at the National Theatre and ‘Fool for Love’ in the West End.

Laura Dos Santos’ previous work includes ‘Look Back in Anger’ at the Jermyn Street Theatre and ‘In Your Hands’ at the New End.

At Concierge Desk, we bring you news of notable productions as soon as we hear about them and, of course, pride ourselves on offering the very best deals in cheap London theatre tickets with regular updates to our website.
