The Woman in Black
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010‘The Woman in Black’ is in its 21st year and currently has theatre tickets available through until 18th December. It is without doubt, the scariest show in London’s West End theatre. Whilst there are some wonderful effects, which we will not spoil by describing them, many of the biggest chills come from the story and the manner in which it is told.
The play is adapted by Stephen Mallatratt from Susan Hill’s novel. A cast of just two actors bring the many characters to life. Arthur Kipps has a story he wish to tell and comes to a professional actor to help him be able to tell it in an engaging and interesting way.
Arthur Kipps is played by Julian Forsyth who has appeared regularly on our television screens. His credits include ‘A Touch of Frost’, ‘The Curse of Steptoe’ and ‘Diamond Geezer’. He also starred in ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at the Royal Festival Hall and ‘Gone With the Wind’ in London West End theatre.
The Actor is played by Christopher Naylor. He has been a regular at the Orange Tree Theatre where productions have included ‘Mary Goes First’, ‘Factors Unforeseen’ and ‘Mountain Hotel’. Other credits include ‘Blue/Orange’ at the New Victoria Theatre and ‘Hay Fever’ for director Peter Hall.
