Noel Coward’s brilliant 1941 play ‘Blithe Spirit’ comes to the West End to reignite the love affair the public continue to have with his plays.

In itself, ‘Blithe Spirit’ is funny enough to draw the paying public in, but it stars the wonderful Alison Steadman who is one of the UK’s favourites actresses, enjoying huge successes both on stage and on TV. There is no doubt therefore that it is sure to be sold out long before it opens next March. In addition, it is directed by one of theatre land’s rising stars, ‘Thea Sharrock who directed the marvellous ‘Equus’.

Blithe Spirit is a about novelist Charles Condomine and his second wife Ruth who host a dinner party for their friends. In order to provide some light entertainment, Charles and Ruth hire the eccentric Madame Arcati a medium who turns out to be better than they expected. Played by the brilliant Steadman, Arcati manages to conjure up Charles’s first wife Elvira, but only he can see her! The evening descends into madness as Elvira embarks upon a mission to destroy Charles’s marriage.

Chaos reigns and hilarity is sure to follow in this wonderful Noel Coward play. Definitely one not to be missed.
