The Woman in Black – Booking period extended
The Woman in Black, currently showing at the Fortune Theatre, London has announced a new booking period; tickets are now on sale for this chilling thriller up to December 2008.
Based on the 1983 Susan Hill novel by the same name, the Woman in Black was first staged at ‘Theatre-by-the-Sea’ in Scarborough in 1987. Following an extremely encouraging reception, the show made it’s first appearance in mainstream London theatre in 1989 at the Fortune Theatre where it is still performed to this day.
Directed by Herbert Wise, the Woman in Black is based on a young solicitor, Arthur Kipps who is sent by his superior to the funeral of an Alice Drablow in the small UK market town of Crythin Gifford. Staying at the home of the deceased, Arthur soon witnesses ghostly appearances of the Woman in Black, together with strange noises and inexplicable occurrences in the eerie house, located on Nine Lives Causeway which is cut off from the mainland at high tide. When raising the subject of the ghostly goings on with the local populace, Arthur soon detects a distinct apprehension to discuss the late Mrs Drablow and realises there is more to the isolated neighbourhood than meets the eye.
With a series of unexpected twists, the spine chilling classic Woman in Black is a must for anyone that enjoys fantastic entertainment of the supernatural flavour!
