The Veeraswamy restaurant is arguably London’s top Indian restaurant.  Established in 1926 by an English gentleman and an Indian Princess, the Veeraswamy is the oldest Indian restaurant in the UK (and possibly the oldest in the World), and has historically been a favourite of Indian Royalty and the rich and famous including Marlon Brando, Charlie Chaplin, and Edward, Prince of Wales.

Newly refurbished with handmade Moghul carpets and Indian black granite, and decorated with historical artefacts including paintings and original Indian Maharajas turbans from the restaurants earlier patrons, the exotic and colourful décor reflects the restaurant’s heritage in the style of the Maharaja’s palaces of the 1920’s.

For any lover of Indian food, you will not be disappointed.  The Veeraswarmy has a team of top Indian chefs specialising in regional Indian dishes, with traditional favourites as well as contemporary dishes on offer, all cooked in the kitchen’s traditional clay ovens.  The standard of the cuisine is exceptional, with a range of delicacies on the menu far more diverse than that of most high street Indian restaurants.  And of course, a selection of delicious Indian beers and lagers are always available!

Raj Kachori - A large crisp puri filled with lentils, tamarind chutney and yoghurt
Green Leaf Bhajias - Coated in a light tasty batter.

Main courses -

Murgh Makhani Chicken Tikka in a classical Delhi sauce
Vegetable Kurma - A southern Indian mixed vegetable curry and Saag Aloo Spinach with potato and Veeraswamy Naan or Rice
