Show Overview

Based on true events that were documented in the Chicago Tribune in the 20’s, the London theatre production of Chicago is a sexy and sassy musical that follows the fate of two murderesses. Velma Kelly is a Vaudeville star who finds her husband and sister in bed together and then murders them, whilst Roxie Hart kills her lover after he spurns her.

Both women are then represented by Billy Flynn, a dynamic lawyer who has various tricks to influence their respective trials. Billy’s dynamism ensures that the women become celebrities but this leads to rivalry with each trying to vie for the ‘front page’ and for Billy’s attentions.

Both women realise they can only rely on themselves and after their acquittal join together to continue Velma’s ‘sister’ act.

In 1997, Chicago won the Tony Award for ‘Best Revival of a Musical’. This West End musical is fantastic, and certainly a 'must have' in your theatre portfolio!
