Show & Meal Options: Show Type Musical Fantine is a young woman who ends up dying in hospital after being forced into prostitution to earn money for her illegitimate daughter Cosette. The child has been neglected by the Thénardiers who spend Fantine’s money on themselves and their own indulged daughter Eponine. During this time, Javert has caught up with Valjean who has admitted his identity but again escaped in order to fulfil his promise to Fantine to care for Cosette. He gives money to the Thenardiers and takes her away. 9 years on and Paris is on the verge of revolution. Eponine is secretly in love with student Marius but he sees her only as a friend. Instead he meets and falls in love with Cosette and asks Eponine to help him win her affections. She leads Marius to Cosette’s house and then stops her father’s gang from committing a robbery. Javert, disturbed by the commotion sees Javert and warns Cosette they must flee. She knows nothing of his past or her mother. On the eve of battle, Cosette and Marius say goodbye and Marius joins the students. Valjean goes to the barricades to try and find Marius after intercepting a letter he has sent to Cosette via Eponine. Eponine is shot on her return and dies in Marius’s arms. The army completely overthrow the students and everyone at the barricades, other than Marius and Valjean, is dead. Marius has been injured and Valjean escapes with him down into the sewers. Javert follows and confronts Valean who pleas for time to get Marius a doctor. Javert agrees and then in utter distress that he has been wrong about Valjean, kills himself by leaping from a bridge into the Seine. Valjean decides to flee, leaving Cosette in Marius’s care. She still doesn’t know about his past and Marius doesn’t know it was Valjean who saved him. Les Miserables is a classic London show and well worth seeing.
