Show Overview

The Sound of Music production at the world famous London Palladium is the story of Maria, a wayward novice nun (prone to outbursts of singing) who leaves the Abbey on the advice of her Mother Superior; in order to be sure of the life she has chose. She becomes nanny to the seven lively children of Captain von Trapp, a widowed Naval Officer, who uses a whistle to keep his children in order.

The presence of Maria brings joy, music, song, life and love, first to the children and then to the Captain whose engagement to the cool, wealthy Baroness Schraeder ends.

The Sound of Music love story is beset with the problem of the Captain’s draft to the Nazi Navy. He has not hidden his disgust of the Nazi regime and with Maria’s support, decides to flee his home and Austria.

An Austrian singing concert is the finale with the Von Trapp family singing together for the ‘final’ time. It is under the watchful eye of members of the Third Reich, there to escort the Captain to his new role within the Nazi Navy. The Von Trapp family win the concert and manage escape to Switzerland.

The Sound of Music really is a wonderful London musical adaptation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, containing all the catchy songs from the original motion picture.
