Show Overview

For lovers of the supernatural, we introduce the Woman In Black!  This spooky production is the ghostly story of a young solicitor named Arthur Kipps, sent by his company to a small market village on the east coast of England called Crythin Gifford to attend the funeral of recently deceased widower, Alice Drablow.  The late Mrs Drablow died alone in Eel Marsh House, her isolated home on Nine Elms Causeway, a bleak stretch of land that is cut off from the mainland at high tide.  The solicitor's task is to deal with Mrs Drablow's papers, and due to the remoteness of the village has no choice but to stay at the home of the deceased.

Already feeling uneasy with the situation he finds himself in, events take a chilling turn when Arthur witnesses the appearance of a mysterious 'woman in black' at Mrs Drablow's funeral.  The pale faced lady watches the funeral from afar, whilst a group of young children stand silently around her.  A serious of further ghostly occurrences occur back in Eel Marsh House as well as further appearances of the woman in black.  When asking about the late Mrs Drablow, Arthur faces a wall of silence and fearful reactions from the local villagers.

From various sources, it eventually transpires that a child was drowned in the marshes off Eel Marsh House, and that the woman in black is the child's mother, intent on haunting the village.  So the tale went, any person to see the woman in black would suffer the loss of a child.

Following his return to London, Arthur is convinced he has been cursed, but will the woman in black seek her vengeance?
